That's good to hear jruby is comparable with 1.9 even with client vm! With server vm and rehearsal run jruby is almost 2x faster than 1.9 (I think 'benchmark' is doing something bad against jruby performance in your benchmark).

for http://pastie.org/308721: (last run)

My apologies about that. My friend Stef, who ran those tests, noted MacPorts wasn't up to date when he ran the tests, and he wasn't about to compile from source or update the Port file.

It has come to be my opinion that Computer Science is too varied a profession to simply be lumped into one degree. Depending on individual professors (and never consistently) I may receive one class from an academic standpoint, and another from a software engineering standpoint. While I applaud the effort of various "Software Engineering" certificates I don't believe it is enough. I would hope someday Comp. Sci. would see hard differentiations between its disciplines, not unlike engineering is partitioned. Getting a little off topic though.

What I mean when I say "Comp. Sci. has failed me[...]" is that my particular program is not preparing me for what I want to do. I feel as if the current degree program for Comp. Sci. is so unfocused one cannot graduate and be a proficient worker without outside help and practice.

Hi jphr,

The video seems to be focused on a little square of the window (so we can't see the details you are talking about). Your voice also doesn't match what is shown on the screen multiple times and is cut of abruptly at the end.

A good sound editor should let you chop out any stuff ups and move the speech to be closer to the actual actions.

Otherwise it is very good to see this stuff in action!
